From Here to There

The next phase of our Russian import program is upon us. On August 22, we will head to Perm, Russia to meet a little person that will hopefully become part of our family by the end of the year. It’s all VERY exciting, and like all things worth having, not without effort. Beyond the 18 months of paperwork and waiting and the many days and nights of soul searching there is the herculean travel extravaganza required.

The time difference between Alice Springs and Perm is only 3 and one half hours. That may leave the impression that these two points might not be that far apart, or that you could at least get from point A to point P in the same day. Neither could be further from the truth.

Three days, three airlines, four countries, five flights and 12,293 air miles will be traversed just getting to Perm to meet a little person. I’m focused on the reason for the trip and trying to block out the trip itself. Fortunately we’re headed to a part of the world that advocates vodka consumption during air travel.
