Here she goes again!

This post has absolutely nothing to do with Australia. One of the perks of having a blog is that it can also serve as a soap box and I’m hopping up on mine. I’m not going to bore you to death – just a few highlights and resources for in-depth reading if the topic interests you.

Animal rights activists are the scourge of animal agriculture. They are no longer a bunch of tie died long haired left over hippies. They come in bright sparkly packages that most Americans never think to question. Did you know that country music singer Carrie Underwood is not only a flaming vegetarian but also a huge supporter of the Human Society of United States. HSUS has NO affiliations with you local pet shelter; their sole purpose is to stop ALL animal agriculture and turn America into a vegetarian society. Carrie Underwood is such a supporter of HSUS that she has done fund raising concerts for them. Carrie has been nominated for Entertainer of the Year at the upcoming Country Music Awards. The public can vote by logging on to the CBS website. If you don’t like the idea a veg head being named Country Music Entertainer of the year, I suggest you log in and vote. She up against 4 seriously hot male carnivores who can really sing, so you may have a hard choosing between George Strait, Keith Urban, Kenny Chesney and Brad Paisley.

What a mean spirited blog - I suspect too much red meat.

Nothing mean spirited about it. The Humane Society of the United States raises hundreds of millions of dollars a year by convincing the public that they are saving and caring for our friends the animals. They imply that they fund your local animal shelter – but don’t put a dime into those types of activities. HSUS is openingly intent on ending ALL animal production and ALL forms hunting & fishing. I am a proud of my life long involvement in the cattle industry and I don’t want to live in a world without red meat, leather, makeup, paint, jello, and a whole bunch of other stuff derived from animals.

Not to mention all the people I know and love who are alive today because of animals being used in medical research. I am deeply opposed to everything HUSU stands for and wouldn’t like to see a CMA Entertainer of the Year on stage promoting their cause.

I stand by my vote from George, who is a meat eating member of the Pro-Rodeo Cowboys Association and doesn’t drag his politics into his music.

Noting your continuing obsession with FOOOOD in many and various forms, I had a curious thought - Are there any Outback Steakhouses in Australia, especially in the Outback itself? Just wonderin'....

If telling the truth is mean-spirited, then I am all for being mean-spirited. Carrie Undernourished is a wolf in sheep's clothing. She pretends to be a farm girl and yet she supports an organization that has a stated goal of abolishing all animal agriculture. If everyone who listens to country music understood her true intentions they would call their favorite radio station and ask them to stop supportin someone who is actively working to put all of their listeners out of business (and drive all food production overseas).

BTW, Waggs, I wouldn't put any stock in an anonymous comment. If you can't sign your name to it, your opinion is worthless. Check out my post on the subject at darenwms.blogspot.com/2009/02/self-aggrandizement.html.

Underwood should stick to the music, and if in doubt ask the Dixie Chicks how wading into the political arena can set your career back.

One of the things these folks really miss is that without animals using up poor end feed stocks and grazing land, we could not feed the world today.
